Beginning this month, a fund of $300,000 will be made available for energy-efficiency rebates, which will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. These are limited-time rebate programs offering savings of up to 50% off the cost of qualifying energy efficiency upgrades, non-profits may be eligible for up to 75% off the cost of upgrades!
This rebate will cover up to 50 percent of the cost of eligible energy-efficiency improvements made to Portland buildings up to 50,000 square feet in total size. The rebates include insulation, cooling and heating equipment, lighting, and food equipment. Check out the specifics on the BDS website.
Another first-come, first-serve opportunity is a limited number of free energy assessments being offered for local commercial buildings, 10,000 square feet or smaller. This offer delivers a customized report evaluating existing building and equipment conditions, possible energy upgrades and efficiencies and identifies relevant tax credits/incentives. The process includes an initial interview with the local engineer firm doing the assessment followed by an evaluation of the building’s construction and insulation, lighting, equipment and HVAC system. More information regarding the free energy assessments can be found on the BDS website.
